IV. From the King of Waltz to the King of Tango
For the majority of people, the name that first comes to mind, when the word "waltz" is pronounced, is that of Strauss. Say "tango" and Astor Piazzolla rolls off the tip of the tongue, just as readily. In this program, there are generous servings of both, the Strauss clan (Sr, Jr, and for good company and a lovely tune, cousin Joseph) and Astor Piazzolla, represented by works of great variety and beauty.
